With Alex Tate ripping a two-run single and Trevor Meyer making a sensational catch to end the game, the Cubs beat up on the Cardinals Thursday night in their first practice game, played in near freezing temperatures. Parker Garrett, Meyer, Mick Madden and Tate all were sharp on the mound. The Cubs were victorious despite playing with only eight players. The Cubs will practice again on Saturday from 1-3 pm on Field 11. Their first regular season game is 5:30 pm Wednesday against the Mets.
